Following the 2011 flood of Brisbane City the Queensland Floods Commission was established and they have embarked on one of the most complex flood studies in Australia’s history. This article details the extent that the committee is going to in order to ensure that the events of that day are not repeated using industry leading techniques and some of Australia’s best minds to analyse each of the separate facets of the issue. A Monte Carlo simulation has been used within the hydrologic calculations due to the number of variables and complexity of their interactions.
