Project Description
TOONGAHRA CIRCUIT, GOONELLABAH STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN
We defined the objective of this Stormwater Management Plan; to ensure that there was no worsening of stormwater quality nor any reduction in the environmental values of the downstream receiving waters as a result of activities on the subject site in compliance with per Lismore City Council, Chapter 22 of the DCP.
PROJECT IN DETAIL
This objective will be achieved through the implementation of:
- Management strategies designed to prevent reduction of downstream water condition from the development of the subject site
Specific construction phase controls to minimise erosion and control sediment loss
A monitoring and maintenance program for the construction phase
PROJECT SUMMARY
THE BEST SOLUTION
The solution for this project was the installation of 2 x 4m2 rain gardens. The rain gardens served the double purpose of meeting councils water quality guidelines, while also bringing the site into compliance with the water discharge requirements due to the extended detention depth of the gardens. Rain gardens are a low cost, low maintenance option that are effective at treating stormwater discharge.
