I was reading an article today commenting on a common theme running through the recent WSUD Conference 2015, which looks at the high failure rates of WSUD infrastructure due to poor design, poor construction and poor maintenance. This is something i have been pushing for a long time in the industry and encourage all stakeholders to closely look at the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of a WSUD assets over a 20 year design life.
Biobasins and Wetlands can look nice when they are first built, but if they are poorly designed hydraulically, poorly build and poorly maintained then the rate of failure is high and the cost of remediation can be prohibitive.
